We parked by the creek and walked down the forest service road past the horse stables to access Perry Cove trail. Our loop was counter-clockwise, so we would be going up the steepest side. Perry Cove trail is a bit rutted out in a few places and is steep, but you nearly get it over with by the time you reach the junction of Bennet Gap trail.

  • Elevation Gain 1135′
  • Distance: 4.1 miles

We took a left and hiked the ridge until Bennet Gap trail left Coon Tree Loop trail to the left. There was construction near the bottom and it looked like they were creating bike jumps as well as putting in water bars.

It was such a pretty day in the low to mid 40’s and sunny. Phil and I had a great time and we kept stopping to mention that we are thankful that Phil has been assigned an office in Asheville so he doesn’t have to work out of town anymore. Life is good.
