We accessed Pressley Cove Trailhead on Avery Creek Road (Forest Service Road #422). We walked up the trail to an intersection with a gravel roadbed and turned right toward Pressley Cove Gap. From trailhead it is 1.3 miles with 1003 ft in elevation gain to the gap.

  • Distance: 5.1 miles
  • Elevation Gain: 1752′
  • Difficulty: Strenuous

We turned left on Black Mountain trail. We climbed up for 1.3 miles to Turkey Gap Trail junction at 4134 ft. of elevation where we turned around and hiked back down. It is a relatively short hike of 5.1 miles round trip, but it really steep.
